Modern School Students to Honor Legendary Singer Arun Thapa Through a Special Musical Tribute
A memorial program organized by Bhaktapur Sangeetik Samaj on his 27th death anniversary.
Bhaktapur, August 13, 2026 — Modern School and College’s student band is set to pay a special musical tribute to legendary Nepali singer Arun Thapa during a memorial program organized by Bhaktapur Sangeetik Samaj on his 27th death anniversary.
The tribute program will be held on Saturday, Shrawan 30, from 1:00 PM onwards at the premises of Modern School/College, Srijananagar, Sallaghari, Bhaktapur–1.
As part of the program, members of the Modern School student band will perform some of Arun Thapa’s timeless and beloved songs, remembering his immense contribution to Nepali music and introducing his rich musical legacy to the younger generation.
The program will mainly feature tribute performances by distinguished singers and musicians associated with Bhaktapur Sangeetik Samaj, who will pay musical homage to the legendary singer through performances of his memorable compositions. The participation of established local artists alongside young student musicians is expected to make the occasion even more meaningful.
The involvement of the Modern School student band will add a distinctive dimension to the memorial program, giving young musicians an opportunity to honor one of Nepal’s most celebrated voices while learning about and preserving his musical legacy.
Bhaktapur Sangeetik Samaj has been consistently organizing musical programs of this nature, providing a common platform for established singers, musicians and aspiring artists.
